Dr. Elizabeth (“Beth”) Murray is a licensed psychologist in New Jersey and New York and a certified school psychologist who specializes in evidence-based therapy for children, adolescents, and families. Her areas of expertise include working with clients who are experiencing anxiety, OCD, ADHD, tics and Tourette syndrome, behavioral and mood challenges, and school-related difficulties.
Dr. Murray is certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and as a Within Agency Trainer (WATer) Through PCIT International. She has advanced training in Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), PCIT for Selective Mutism (PCIT-SM), Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), and SPACE for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (SPACE-ARFID). She uses a practical, skills-based approach rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and parent management strategies to help children build confidence and families feel supported and equipped.
Before opening her practice, Dr. Murray worked in two private group practices in Chester and Chatham, New Jersey. As part of her training, she also provided clinical services within public schools, where she conducted psychoeducational assessments, consulted with Child Study Teams, and delivered individual and group therapy focused on emotion regulation, social skills, and stress management. Throughout her years of practice, she has developed a collaborative approach, working closely with parents, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure that therapeutic progress carries over into the school environment—particularly for children experiencing school avoidance, anxiety, bullying, or learning and behavioral challenges.
In her clinical work, Dr. Murray strives to create a warm, safe, and collaborative space where children can express themselves, learn coping strategies, and make meaningful changes. She supports families through challenging circumstances—including emotional and behavioral dysregulation, conflict, trauma, and grief—and helps parents develop the tools they need to support their child’s growth and resilience. Her approach is validating, strengths-based, and grounded in trust, consistency, and empathy.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and communication from Rutgers University and her doctorate from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons, going to live music events, reading, and getting outdoors whenever possible.
